Benefit Access Program (old Circuit Breaker)- Wood River Township Residents may walk in Monday – Thursday from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. at the Township Clerk’s Office for assistance. Call first for availability at 618-259-7260 Benefit Access Program is the Senior program for discounted car license plates and the Seniors & Persons with disabilities who wish to apply for the ride free transit benefit program.

Notary Public

 

Notary Public is Available at any WR Township office for Township residents free of charge.

 

 Federal Food Bank for Persons 60 years and older-Wood River Township Residents only

Must qualify through application at the Clerk’s office. The food box comes once a month on the 2nd Thursday of the month and is a box of commodities.  For more information call the Clerk’s office 618-259-7260

 

 

 

Anyone wishing to register to vote can register at the Clerk’s office,

you must show a photo ID and bring a piece of mail with your current address on it.

 

 

Exemptions & Freezes   Look at the back of your tax bill for exemptions and freezes and if you qualify.  The Assessor’s Office has forms and can assist you in filing.  Also see under the Assessor’s page on this website for more information.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Brush Pickup   Township residents may call between 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday to the Highway Department at 618-259-2490 to schedule pickup for paper bags of yard waste and limbs on Thursdays and Fridays. Then residents are to place the paper bags of yard waste at the curb in front of their residence.

 

Dumpster Use-location is at the WRT Highway Department, 1010 8th St in Cottage Hills The 8th Street Dump is open for the residential areas that Wood River Township services: Forest Homes, Cottage Hills, Kendall Hill and Rosewood Heights residents only. (no contractors please) Please bring a utility bill and your driver’s license for proof of residency with you. Residents may drop off items that the State of Illinois allows at dump sites, lumber needs to be no longer than 4 feet and bundled. Items not acceptable in Illinois Dump sites are:

  1. Car batteries
  2. Motor oil
  3. Tires
  4. Liquid waste (e.g., non-dried paint, household cleaners)
  5. Untreated medical waste
  6. Cathode ray tube (CRT) screens (tube monitors and TVs)
  7. Products containing mercury
  8. Yard waste
  9. Computers
  10. Nickel-cadmium (NiCad, or rechargeable) batteries
  11. No electronics, no EPA regulated items.

Dump hours: on Mondays 7:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and Fridays 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

 

General Assistance   Township residents with little or no income and who meet certain requirements may apply at the Supervisor’s Office for help with rent, utilities and/or groceries. Supervisor’s Office- 618-259-2366
