Wood River Township Property Tax Exemptions
A friendly reminder from the Assessor, it is time to renew your exemptions.
Property tax exemptions, the Senior Freeze, Disabled Person & the Disabled Veterans need to be renewed now. In addition, Seniors who will turn 65 years of age in 2025 can now apply for the Senior Homestead exemption.
Note: to apply for all exemptions the Assessor will need a copy of either an Illinois State Driver’s License or a valid Madison Co. Voter’s Registration card as proof of residency. The address on the driver’s license must match the address of the property seeking the exemption.
All tax exemptions need to have a copy of one of the following: Senior’s State ID Card, Voter’s ID Card or State Driver’s License as proof of residency. BEGINNING IN 2024, THE CHIEF COUNTY ASSESSMENT OFFICE WILL BE EQUALIZING ALL PROPERTIES IN LATE SUMMER.
NOTICES WILL NO LONGER BE SENT. THIS MEANS MULTIPLIER CARDS WILL NO LONGER BE MAILED IN MARCH.
PROPERTY OWNERS SHOULD PERIODICALLY CHECK THE COUNTY ASSESSOR’S WEBSITE STARTING JUNE 15, 2024,
TO SEE IF YOUR TOWNSHIP CHANGES (INCREASE/DECREASE) HAVE BEEN POSTED.
APPEALS TO THE BOARD OF REVIEW WILL ONLY BE ACCEPTED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF THE POSTED PUBLICATION DATE.

Dear Seniors
We wanted to let you know, as of 2024, The Madison County Chief County Assessment Office
will no longer require renewal on the Senior Citizens Homestead Exemption (the yellow card).
Yearly renewal WILL still be required for those eligible for the Assessment Freeze!
These applications will be mailed out to you from the Assessor’s Office. PLUS, you will need to
provide a copy of either a State ID Card, Voter’s ID Card or IL State Driver’s License.
The address on the driver’s license must match the address of the property seeking the exemption.

People who have already signed up for tax exemptions, will receive a packet in the mail in
January of the new year, for renewing those exemptions.
